Air pollution is a major problem in Bengaluru, which is the second-fastest growing major metropolis in India. Fortunately there are some parks in the city, which are its lung spaces.
Here are some charming parks in South Bengaluru.

Cubbon Park

This landmark lung space of Bengaluru covers an area of around 300 acres. It houses massive trees, flowerbeds, plants, monuments, statues, children's park and much more. The park has around 68 genera and 96 species of plants and trees. More than 6000 plants and trees have made Cubbon Park their home.

Here you will find indigenous species like artocarpus, cassia fistula, ficus and polyalthias; and exotic species like araucaria, bamboo, castanospermum australe, grevillea robusta, millettia, peltophorum, schinus molle, swietenia mahagoni and tabebuia.
I have visited this park many times. I was a regular visitor to the library inside the park during my college days and later on while I was seeking employment. I have meditated many times sitting on benches under the trees and walked for long durations here.

  1. The main gate near Queen Victoria statue up to King Edward statue
  2. Middle road of Gazebo and Ringwood circle

Lalbagh

Covering an area of around 240 acres, this beautiful botanical garden houses flowerbeds, lawns, lotus pools, a lake, a glass house, statues, massive trees, plants, fountains, a 3,000-million-year-old rock formations and much more.

M.N. Krishna Rao Park

Located in Basavanagudi, near Netkallappa Circle, this 25-acre lung space is well-known for its beautiful trees with large canopies.
This well-maintained park has children's play area, basketball court, library, open air gymnasium and jogging tracks.

Madhavan Park

This park is located in Hombegowda Nagar. Madhavan park running track is famous in this region. It's a delight to jog here in the early morning hours. The children's play area offers swings, slides, a merry go around and much more.

Bugle Rock Park

This serene park in Basavanagudi houses rocks, statues, gardens, waterfalls, fountains and three temples. The bugle rock in the park is actually a 3,000-million-year-old abrupt rise above the ground of peninsular gneiss. There is a watch tower on the rock.

Lakshmi Devi Park

Located near Bethany School in Koramangala 6th Block, this well-maintained, beautiful children's park features lawns, plants, trees, slides, swings, carousel, walking tracks and much more.

Vivekananda Park

Statue of Swami Vivekananda is the main attraction of this peaceful park. Located in Girinagar, this serene park has children's play area, lawns, plants, flower beds, trees and fountains. Music concerts are also organized here.

Padmanabhanagar Park

Padmanabhanagar Park is one of the best parks in Bengaluru. This well maintained park includes a temple, gymnasium, children's play area, well lit jogging track, trees, medicinal plants, benches, rocks, statues and more.
Located in 2nd Main Road, Padmanabhanagar, this beautiful park is open on all days of the week between 5 am and 10 pm.

Banagiri Park

Located in Banashankari 3rd Stage, this beautiful and peaceful park is ideal to burn some calories in the early morning hours. It attracts many joggers and walkers. There is a gazebo, where you can read, or meditate, or just sit and relax.

Pushpanjali Park

Located in 2nd Phase, Hosakerehalli Layout, Banashankari Stage I, this park is ideal for morning walk. A playground is attached to this peaceful park, which has well-maintained lawn and trees.

Ranadheera Kanteerava Park

Located in Jayanagar 1st Block, this open air park has many playing areas. This lung space has an attractive statue of Mother Kaveri with a child and other attractive sculptures. There is a pond, jogging track and benches in shapes of fruits, flowers and human organs.

Butterfly Garden at WIPRO, Electronic City, not only houses colorful butterflies, but also has confluent paintings on large granite slabs and stone sculptures.

Yediyur Lake Park

This park surrounds Yadiyur Lake. The children's play area in the park is equipped to keep your child engaged and entertained. The lake hosts many migratory birds. There is one statue of a beautiful girl, created by John Irving. You can enjoy boating and water scooting.

Located in Chamrajpet, this park is ideal for your morning exercises. It has jogging tracks and some cardio training machines. You will find plenty of greenery, a small lake, birds and squirrels here. There are some sculptures. There is play area for children.

It's a wonderful Park. Very good morning walk around the park with fresh air is possible here. The Garden is cleanly maintained. Gym equipments are really good. Children's play area is also very good.

Kalikambha Children's Park

Some people start coming to this well maintained park for their morning walk as early as 4.30 am. The peaceful environment of this park attracts many seniors.
