Bannerghatta National Park

Located around 22 km from Bengaluru, the Bannerghatta National Park has various units, including Zoo, Safari, Butterfly Park and Rescue Center. The Safari gives an opportunity for your child to see big cats like lions and tigers in their natural habitat. I have visited this national park many times with my family. We all (especially my son) have enjoyed our trips to this place.

Borra Caves

Also known as Borra Guhalu, these natural caves are located in the Ananthagiri hills, around 92 kilometers north of Visakhapatnam. These million-year-old caves are karstic limestone structures extending to a depth of 80 meters. You will find stalagmite and stalactite formations here.

INS Kurusura Submarine Museum

INS Kursura (S20), which was a Russian built Kalvari-class diesel-electric submarine of the Indian Navy, was decommissioned in 2001 after 31 years of service. The complete submarine, including the weapon package was hauled-up from sea to land and positioned on a concrete foundation at Gajapathi Raju Marg, Ramakrishna Beach Road. It is Asia's first submarine museum. It will give you an idea of how submarines work during wartime, life inside a submarine, etc.

Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Temple, Simhachalam

This ancient Hindu temple is located on the Simhachalam hill, around 20 kilometers from Visakhapatnam. It was built by king Sri Krishnadevaraya. It combines the Orissan and Chalukyan features of temple construction. Stone carvings in this 11th century temple are similar to those in Konark. There are stone carvings of the avatars of Lord Vishnu, flowers, elephants and plants. It is the second richest temple in Andhra Pradesh.

Kailasagiri

This hilltop park is spread out over 380 acres. It overlooks beaches, forests and Vishakhapatnam city. Indira Gandhi Zoological Park

Located in the Kambalakonda Reserve Forest, this zoo covers an area of around 625 acres. It is around 4 kilometers from the city.
The zoo is home to around 800 animals, including birds, primates, herbivores, carnivores and reptiles. There is a separate area for butterflies and moths. The zoo also houses an auditorium, library and interpretation center.
The zoo is open between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm; it is closed on Mondays. Entry fee is ₹10 for adults and ₹5 for children.

Visakha Museum

Located in Beach Road, Appughar, this museum houses historical treasures and artifacts of the Kalingandhra region. These exhibits provide an insight into the history of Visakhapatnam during the last few centuries.The museum is open between 11.00 am and 7.00 pm on weekdays and 12.00 pm and 8.00 pm on weekends. It is closed on Fridays.
